it’s been a while since i’ve seen paintings that really describe their content. the paintings below capture the activity of chatter, conversation, cacophony, background noise, emotion, conflict, opinion, insult, exclamation, discourse, debate, chitchat, argument, interview, debate, gossip, visiting, confabulation, schmoozing, accusation, revilement, vilification, abuse, etc.,that occurs every day, everywhere. they are visual expressions of audio soundtracks…almost as if howard hodgkin decided one day to layer gestural words atop his bold strokes of abstract/figurative color.
