jane would be right at home with this super space age kitchen, and rosie would love the easy clean up. who wouldn’t love this idea?
if it were only a reality. designed by magda masalska and marta pala, the components store in three glass covered cylindrical spaces in the floor. maybe in twenty years we’ll see something like this in homes. BUT, as i’ve said many times before, i was promised the future long ago. twenty years of waiting is unacceptable. the designers mentioned this kitchen would be great for retired folks. nice.
the main totem contains heat for cooking (hob and oven) storage and a fridge/freezer combo. the middle totem is the washing up station: sink/dishwasher and more storage. the little baby totem is more decorative, although the garden bit would be great for a herb garden. the lighting above mimics the totemic shapes below and the table and chairs are one piece, giving it the feel of something that was drawn without lifting the hand. kinda cartoon-ie.
