what would that thing be, you ask? today, it’s all about how luxury logos have become so commonplace and so overused that current and future use only serves to make them look tawdry, cheap and well, icky.
i posit the louis vuitton logo is most abused in this world, with gucci and other design houses right at their logo-ed heels. of course i am dissing vuitton because they actually hired kanye west to design sneakers for them. WTF? this development galvanizes today’s post. the shoes he’s designed look like every other sneaker out there. and a bigger question is: why does vuitton need to add thug sneakers to their stable of “luxury” goods? the more common, the more accessible, the more popular something becomes…it begins the decline of its allure and its desirability. it becomes bastardized and no one with any educated eye for quality goods will seek out the products. you will know i’m right. (oh, and no snaps of the sneaks because they are just lame.)
