riccardo tisci is sneaky. he can drape and tailor the most gorgeous garments, as seen in my favorite black dress of the season in my previous post. but unlike some of the one trick ponies that are his contemporaries, tisci isn’t afraid to risk hearing hubert de givenchy twirling madly around in his grave. nope, he’s content taking classic, gorgeous and elegant tailoring and reinterpreting it as though it were tribal:

a variation on formal attire, interpreted in sheer black, trousers and a could-be black angel wing

the dress, with "hair" and other unidentified fibres

my personal favourite, which is an incredibly lovely goddess silhouette, interpreted as a wig? nothing new...

i say nothing new in the previous photo because maison martin margiela chucked this wig coat down the runway for spring 2009. (diane von furstenburg recently wore it in a NYT story).
